10 Ideas How To Manage Stress As A Software Engineer

  1. 1

    Hi everyone!

As an indie hacker with many side projects, I find it hard to balance it all. There's always so much more to do than I can make time for.

For me, the most important step to improve this was to learn to recognize when I need a break. To listen to my mind and body.

Then, the second step is to acknowledge that I need a break and actually take it.

The last step is learning not to feel guilty when taking a break. That’s especially hard.

What helps me to feel better is recognizing that:

    1. Recovering from a real burn-out takes much longer than these breaks.
    2. It’s about the journey. Will I ever take time to enjoy life if I don’t take some time for that now?
    3. Indie-hacking is a creative endeavor and the best creative ideas come when my mind is not busy doing something.

I've found that meditation helps me with all three steps (plus all the other ideas I outlined in the article).

    How do you manage stress?
