This is pretty awesome! Can I ask for your thoughts around #1 - why not say thanks? How is saying thanks detrimental to the Newsletter?
Don't say thanks until you get them to confirm your email and get and open your first email.
so give give give, and then say thanks.
seeing "Thank you" makes ppl stop. They think it's confirmed. If you're using double opt in, it's a small optimization you can fix now. Taking out "thank you" and making sure they actually confirm their email, will increase your new subscriber count.
Also the overall message is to give something right away. "Thanking" someone is a final act. It's over. But really when someone subscribes you really really really want them to open your emails and engage, reply, download.
