Spent less than $4 on a domain

Finally worked my way though a PERN stack hosting tutorial that I found on Youtube using AWS EC2. To host the app with SSL I needed to buy a domain so I used Namecheap: https://www.namecheap.com/

True to their name I am convinced Namecheap must have the least expensive domains on the web. I have used godaddy and google domains before and I gotta say it was a much better experience with Namecheap.

I got the domain name ohmystream.co for my livestreaming application for only $3.98. I got the react build folder hosted properly but I will have to do some tweaking to get the server working. Additionally my next goal is to set up a CI/CD pipeline so that I can make updates to the code in my EC2 instance.

From what I've seen Github actions and AWS CodeDeploy seems to be a popular way to handle CI/CD. Here's an article I will be using: https://medium.com/thelorry-product-tech-data/amazon-ec2-deployment-complete-ci-cd-pipeline-using-github-actions-and-aws-codedeploy-8a477123ff7e

$4 first year and $40 for every next ?

They got to recoup selling the first year at a loss somehow 🤷

I guess it's actually beneficial if you're just trying out a few projects that may fail within a year.

which tutorial you used in youtube ?

That's smart! I've usually used google domains (just bought a domain for a new project for ~$14 I think). I should check out Namecheap next time

Definitely! Namecheap is where it's at

Different domain registries do sales all the time to attract new users. I would recommend checking multiple places if you want to save money.

I recommend these if you want to save time searching for best domain price
