Chrome webstore SEO

The main learning of the last week was that we’re seeing a noticeable bump in the number of visits to the gSweets listing since changing our name and description to optimize for SEO. On November 13, we added “Google Docs” to the extension name, and added keywords like “slash commands”, “Notion” and “Confluence” to the description. We can definitely see a noticeable uptick in visits to align directly to that change.

Thanks to Corey of Meet Enhancement Sweet for the SEO suggestions. Although our scale is still relatively small, this definitely motivates us to continue to modify our descriptions and keep an eye on page views.

Twitter DMs

I had a much higher response rate from Twitter DMs this past week. I’ve continued reaching out to ProductHunt users who’ve engaged with similar products in the past. Last week, I tweaked my message to be less pushy. Instead of just an introduction and a link to the Chrome webstore, I’m sending users our promo video and ask if it resonates and whether they have any feedback. Once I have an answer, I can further qualify to see if they are interested in testing it out. Here’s my current messaging:

Hey! I noticed on ProductHunt you liked the Spotlight chrome ext. I'm about to launch gSweets for gSuite. Our mission is to make Google Suite as fast and delightful to use as possible and we're starting with a small extension that adds Notion-like shortcuts to Google Docs. If that sounds interesting, I'd love to get your thoughts on the product & UX. Here’s a quick promo video.

If you have any suggestions, let me know.

This week

My primary goal this week is to reach out to bloggers in our space. My strategy is to find write-ups on similar extensions and reach out directly to the authors via email or Twitter.

Until next week,
