Share your product or landing page, and I'll give you product design advice

Hey IH,

I'm Nev, a product designer and developer from Ireland. I've been designing and building products for the last 10 years, the latest of which is wrap.so.

Share your product or landing page, and I'll give you quick, actionable suggestions on how to make it better.

Good design is the cumulation of small details. Often, drastic product design improvements can be made simply by implementing certain simple tweaks.

If you’d like to follow me as I build wrap.so to 1k MRR in public, I’m sharing updates and product design nuggets on Twitter.

    Hello Nev,
Thanks for doing this. Here is mine: https://www.recto.app
    I just launched last week.
Any thoughts would be super helpful :)

    1. 1

Loving the landing page man, feels good to see some clean designs.

    2. 1

      Awesome product, compliments!
However, the little movie you're loading on the homepage next to point 2 stops Chrome in it's tracks on my desktop.

      1. 1

Sorry to ask you that, but can I ask you, your operating system? I'm trying to reproduce the bug, thanks

        1. 1

I got the same problem after point 3. Whenever I reached point 3, the site freezes and I can no longer scroll up or down for a good 5-10 secs. I am using Chrome on Mac.

Btw meant to say: Nice idea and site!

    3. 1

Hey! Great job on carving out a unique design system with Tailwind! I'm also a fan of the copy you've used to explain the product; it's really literal and clear.

      • I found the centred 'UPLOAD TELL SHARE' a little jarring initially. I think it's the combination of the uppercase lettering and the amount of padding between each item. If you're keen on centring these, I'd consider reducing the space between nav items.
      • I like the layered isometric asset you have in your first panel. There's a great opportunity to build each layer with code (you can filter skew and scale divs to create the same effect), then vertically animate the layers on scroll. It would add some nice dynamism to the page.
      • A small thing, but I'd try to make the Excel and Google Sheets logos more uniform. The two different greens tend to clash with each other, as well as your brand. I'd consider washing out the colours as you've done with your platform icons above.
      1. 1

THANKS A LOT ! it's super useful ! I'm going to make some changes this week.

        Thanks again,
        Rémi

    4. 1

Wow! it's fucking amazing. you have a new customer now!

      1. 1

Awesome! Let me know if you have any feedback on the platform

  2. 3

Thanks for doing this! I would love to get your thoughts on the landing page for https://standupwizard.com, it's an automated standup bot in Slack for remote teams.

    1. 1

Really clean, concise and easy to follow.

      • I'd recommend a sticky header to aid navigation and give some depth to the page.
      • Some transitions on your hover animations would soften things up a little.
      • I think you've nailed the execution on this. The only criticism would be that it's very TailwindCSS. The break out of that, I'd consider some custom fonts or illustrations to carve out your own unique design system. If you Google 'font foundry' you'll find some amazing independent agencies that craft great, unique fonts.
      1. 1

Thank you! Those are some great points and I think it would help elevate the landing page a bit more

  3. 2

Hey Nev, thanks for doing this! Hopefully we're not too late to the party.

SimpleTour is a no-code tool that automates the onboarding process for web-based platforms. Think WhatFix or WalkMe but at a simple and affordable level for our fellow IH community.

Would appreciate your thoughts on our landing page and demo page.

Hi,I am a indie game Developer. I don’t know much about art. my website is https://moeif.com, thanks

    1. 2

      Cool product! Some thoughts:

      • I'd lean into your illustrations a little more. At the moment, they get lost among the other elements of the website; particularly the top image. I'd take these as a concept, then go to Fiverr and get them illustrated in SVG, then finally include them in a larger scale on your website.
      • I missed the main CTA on first look (Download for: Windows, MacOS). These should be highlighted to the same extent the 'Subscribe' button is at the bottom of the page.
      • Your footer has far too much whitespace. I'd consider rethinking the size or layout if you only have 3 clickable links in there.
    2. 1

this is a super cool product, let me know if you need someone to test things out! I'm stuck between Notion and Obsidian -_- @WolfOliver

  5. 2

Hey, thank you for your time and this thread!
Any feedback or thoughts on ssh2.me would be great. Main idea of this service -- helps with managing ssh connections.

    1. 1

Hey! Getting a DNS error when trying to access ssh2.me!

Let me know if you fix it and I'll take a look.

  6. 2

I'd love to get your thoughts on https://essayygenius.ai

I tried to keep it simple, and put users into the product ASAP.

    1. 1

I'm getting a DNS error when trying to access this! If you have a different version, or can get this one up and running, just let me know and I'll check back in.

      1. 1

My bad apologies! Typo in the domain. It's https://essaygenius.ai

  7. 2

I'd love to hear your thoughts on https://shroud.email/.

I just used TailwindUI, so the UI is pretty standard -- I'm sure it could be improved!

    1. 2

Nice work on keeping the page really clean and clear. I immediately understood the offering, which is great!

      Here are some first thoughts:

      • The page feels a little static. You could simply improve this by fading text content in rather than have it appear on first load. A sticky header would also help add depth to the page, as well as improve navigability.
      • I think your second panel ('Spammers and marketers don't just see...') needs more vertical padding. Looks like you have 3rem on my monitor, I'd double this to 6rem. Don't be afraid to give things plenty of whitespace. People tend to use too little in general.
      1. 2

Hi Nev, this is super helpful! Thank you so much for the suggestions, and the general advice.

By the way, I had a look at wrap.so. It looks useful, so I tried to find pricing details but couldn't -- is it deliberate decision to hide this until you've signed up?

  8. 2

    Working on Dynamic QR

I would be interested to know whether people understand what our tool offers through our landing page and whether the page encourages them to register.

We are running on closed beta, so you can't really register :P

    Thanks in advance!

    1. 1

Clever concept, and your landing page is definitely understandable.

Naturally, the first thing the user is drawn to is the header text: 'QR Codes for process automation'. I'd consider rewording this to something more literal. Process Automation™ sounds like you've coined the term, and it's too much like jargon, which you should avoid. I was initially thinking, 'What's Process Automation'?

A more literal example might be 'Create QR codes with embedded forms' or 'Extend QR Codes with Forms and Actions'.

      Some more thoughts:

      • I'd bump the size of the asset in the hero section. The smartphone/QR Code combo looks great, but it's just a little small in comparison to the text on the left.
      • It would be great if you could add assets to your blog posts. It feels very text-heavy without them. They could be abstract, or even just product screenshots. Linear do an excellent job in their changelog.
      1. 1

Thanks for your feedback! Will definitely try to use that.

    1. 1

      Really cool product!

Some things that jumped out initially:

      • I'd give more vertical space between each of your main panels (Boards, Video, Sketch). They feel a little cramped right now.
      • The individual pop-out panels are really nice. It would be a great opportunity to add some parallax to these as you scroll. E.g. for the Video panel, keep the main image static, while slowly moving the y-position of the pop-out chat panel as you scroll.
      • I'd add longer subtitles beneath each panel title and drop the font size. E.g. from 'A Picture's Worth A Thousand Words!' to 'Collaborate in realtime on sketches with other members of your team.' It's more literal, and it'll look better on the page in a smaller font.
      1. 1

Thank you for the excellent suggestions! I will see to getting those implemented shortly =)

  9. 2

    Hi Nev! here we go.

    Wicked Templates
    HTML Landing page templates
    for your next project
Free and Premium themes, UI Kit's, templates and landing pages built with Tailwind CSS, HTML & Next.js.

    https://www.wickedtemplates.com/

    Thank you for doing this!

    1. 1

      Hey Michael. These are great!

      Here's some initial thoughts:

      • The hero section is really clean. There's probably an opportunity for adding some screenshots of the templates as an asset here. They're all really striking and beautiful so why not overlay a few of them (like a deck of cards) and include them in the hero? I do like the current direction though.
      • Regarding the template grid, the first thing I noticed was the difference in grid spacing vertically and horizontally. I'd make the vertical spacing the same as the current horizontal spacing.
      • The templates make for beautiful product tiles. I think the grey padding around each of them hurts the design a little bit. I'd remove the padding, and just keep a small section of meta (title, price etc.) at the bottom.
      • I'd balance the padding above and below the meta section of each tile. Ideally, I'd add more to the bottom of the 'buy now/live demo'.
      • I'd darken the top navigation bar. The contrast gets a little tricky when it overlays on the template tiles.
      1. 1

That was quick mate. Thank you for that!

        • Oh, maybe I could add this image...I have to test.

        • Ops, it should have been blurred actually this navigation, not sure what happened here...it was completely dark...

        • oh, that grid hurts now that I see it, true...I should have the same space in both axis. Good catch, thank you.

        • Really? Does it look off? I thought I was giving some real state to the image that's why I added the gray around the images, let me test to remove that padding.

Again, thank you so much for your tips.

        Have a great day Nev!

        1. 1

Something like that image would be amazing! It looks fantastic.

No problem; best of luck with it!

  10. 2

Here is my landing page, I'm about to launch .

    https://fulldiv.com/

    1. 1

Good luck with the launch! Great job on your hero section and animations.

      Here are some thoughts:

      • I'd tweak your font line heights. Your p tags feel a little cramped, I'd bump these to line-height: 1.5. Might be the way the font has been designed, but the h1 tags look like they have too much line height. I'd drop these to 1. All the other tags are good.
      • I'd significantly reduce the size of your technology icons (HTML5, CSS3 etc.). They feel a little geriatric right now. Check out the size of the icons on Stripe's landing page. It'll feel much sharper if you drop the size and give them plenty of whitespace.
      • The image for 'Member chat room and community' is really pixelated. I'd say either make it much smaller or replace it.
      • I'd allow more horizontal space (between image and text) in the 'We’ve got you covered!' section.

    Hi Nev!
I'm building Polygonjs which helps creating interactive 3D experiences for the web, without coding.

    It's mostly:

    • for coders needing a higher level control tool, compared to low level libraries like threejs.
    • or for designers willing to add interactive 3D to their page, without having to code.

And even though I aim to make it as simple as possible, it's still is a specialised tool, and I'd be very curious to hear from you how you find the Demo. Does it make sense? Do you feel you have enough clues to tweak the 3D ?scene

    https://cruspo.com

    1. 1

Hey there! Great job; here are some points:

      • I think each of your main panels would benefit from more vertical padding. Where you have padding: 25px, I'd up that to padding: 75px 25px to really give it some breathing room in the y-direction.
      • You're supporting text feels very large. The page will look a lot more professional if you reduce it by around 30%. Where you're using 28px, I'd drop that to 18px and use a line-height of 1.5.
      • The 3D icons are nice, but they feel a little out of place since they're only used in one part of the landing page. I'd try to include these in other places to tie the design system together.
  60. 1

    Hey @NevFlynn!

I would love to have tips on my landing of tacodigest.com - my recent product I launched last month.
I was always more developer rather designer but I'm trying to learn.

    Thank you in advance!

  61. 1

I would love to hear advice from you.

    https://licensebridge.com/

    1. 2

Hey! Here are some first thoughts:

      • I think your logo clashes with the branding of the rest of the website. On the website, you have a blue/orange theme, with sans-serif typography, whereas your logo is black/red in serif font. I'd stick to one style and then make it uniform across the whole brand.
      • I'd tone down the entrance animations. Rather than animating from 50% to 100%, try to animate from 90% to 100%, or 95% to 100%. Subtle is good on entrance animations.
      • Your illustrations are a little pixellated. I'd try to bump up the quality or lower the size of these to make them look sharper. Alternatively, if you have SVGs and you can keep the file size down, that's the winner.
      1. 1

Thank you, advices are top-notch, thanks for that.

  62. 1

    Hey Nev,
Please let me know what you think about http://getvealth.com.

Heres mine, just started recently. Thanks
    https://instatuts.herokuapp.com/

    1. 2

Really cool product, although it's a busy space. With web3 projects, product design has tended to be pretty 'out there', so don't be afraid to make it a little weird.

      • Typography is nice, but since you're building a web3 product which is targeted at the music industry, I'd personally choose something more unique. Maybe look up font independent font foundries and experiment. A great example is Velvetyne.
      • Your asset layering is really nice, and would lend itself to some independent animations. E.g. sequentially animate in each message image (e.g. Thx!! I'm from Paris too) above the main image.
      • A continuous, slow carousel animation would be nice for your hero section where you have the album art tiles.
      1. 1

        thanks, great feedback :)

  64. 1

Hey https://traveble.xyz is my first product and its in a very early stage so your feedback will be helpful

    Cheers!

    1. 2

Hey! This is a really interesting concept.

      • I noticed that on larger displays, the cards on the landing page stretch vertically. I think removing the height property on your .list_container element fixes this.
      • I like the animated coloured bars beside your hero text, but they're a little bit pixellated. I'd love to see the same effect but built with code. You could randomise the widths on each iteration and it would create a sharper, more chaotic animation.
      • On profile pages, I'd add some vertical padding to each repo row and vertically align the content within. Content currently seems to be aligned to the top of each row.
      1. 1

Thanks @NevFlynn, really appreciate the feedback, super nice of you to do that :)

        • Nice, fixed!
        • This is actually exactly how the animated bars currently work :) , but I’m not sure why they’re pixellated. Probably could change pixel ratio for the canvas.
        • True! Will fix that too :D

        Thanks!

https://waitlist.today is a no-bloat, no-code waitlist page builder. The MVP is not launched yet, and the design is sterile, but I'm wondering your thoughts.

    Hi Nev 👋

Queezed is a Quiz maker tool that uses a system for Generating Unique Quizzes into PDF for preventing students from cheating.

The art element in the Hero is an example of how the questions/responses shuffle happens.

The sections describe how the tool works, starting from the quiz-making process, ending on how the cheating bulletproof document will be generated.

The Sections are like a highlight of most of the tool features.

Nev, god damn I love your site. And a fellow Dubliner too. Popped you an email because anyone who can design and code a site like that is someone I wanna know :D

Anyways my in-development side project is reservadesk.com.

    Thanks for the post 👍

What's up Chris! Thanks for the love.

Here are some first thoughts on reservadesk.com:

      • I'm a fan of the logo icon, it's simple and strong. That being said, I'd couple the icon with a more recognisable font, and something with a heavier weight. It currently looks a little too stock. If you Google 'font foundries' and browse through some of the fonts from independent agencies, you'll find something unique. E.g. Signal Foundry and Open Foundry.
      • I'd drop the size of the icons in your 'What else?' section by around 50%. If possible, it would be nice to get a set of icons which match the 3D style of the illustration in your hero section. I think that would tie the page together nicely.
      • Bumping the size of your h1 and h2 tags would create some nice visual contrast between titles and subtitles. I'd also use the h1 title colour for the h2 tags to also build contrast.
      • I'd personally drop the 'Try for Free' CTAs in each panel. I think you have plenty between the Header, Hero and Pricing, and removing them will give you some more room to bump the h2 tags.

Clever product given the times. Best of luck with it!

    Hi Nev. Thanks for this on a Sunday evening when you should have a dose of the Glenroes. I'd love your feedback on my site;
    https://www.theprojectmanagement.expert
It's far from finished. I plan on turning it into an App as well and displaying that image in the Hero section.
    Thanks

How I came up with the idea:
While learning, it can be difficult to find good examples and once you find a gem then it is important to be able to find that useful example again. I built this chrome extension so that you can save/bookmark pages and have all your favourite code in one place.

    Currently you can:

    1. Save & tag code examples in one place
    2. Quickly view all code examples on any page
    3. Each bookmark has a link so you can go back to the original page that the bookmark/saved code was on.

Hope you enjoy, I am super excited to launch this. I have some big things coming up including a VSCode extension and a way to save notes on videos.

Message me if you are interested, and want a free copy to review.
