2nd paying customer!

No surprise, especially not to anyone on indiehacker. Entrepreneurship is hard. Particularly when you're a one person operation. You're doing sales, and marketing, and product, and dogfooding. If you're in a niche space like Lurnby, growth can be super slow too. So you need all the motivation you can get.

Proud and humbled to say that as of today, Lurnby got it's 2nd paying customer. And there are 4 active users.

The new customer is a friend, who said they're finally ready to try and learn better. And it gives me all the feels to know that I've made something that they think is worth paying for.

Now I just have to keep the product good enough so that they don't stop paying.

I'll keep grinding away. Time to do the Slava dance.

Good work, Rostislav! Since my last advice to you, I feel invested 😄 It always feels good to get in on the ground floor of exponential growth 😉 Onward to the next milestone! 🚀

Haha thanks man! Was just thinking about you today when I caught news of the readwise and obsidian integration!

Your advice was spot on haha

    1 to 2, 2 to 5, 5 to 10, and 10 to 100. Well done!

    1. 1

Hope that's how it goes :)

  3. 2

    Congratulations! That's awesome!

  4. 2

Congrats man. That's how this goes. Linear before it gets exponential.
    Kudos.

Hopefully. Im just slowly hacking away. I was my target customer really anyways, and it's been massively helpful so far. So I believe the growth will come by just focusing on the right steps, bit by bit.

  5. 2

Congratulations mate! I'm still on the journey to get the first customer. I started with co-founder issues so I'm focusing on the pursuit of growth for the 2nd year. Really sad!

Well, I'm happy for you all the same. Cheers!

I hear you on that. I feel that sometimes, the slower things go, the more you absorb. And you get to go faster later. So don't let it get you down.

And also, cofounder issues can sometimes be a blessing. Better to find out early, and to learn how to navigate those challenges at some point - because they're just like relationships, it's always gonna require work and have the ups and downs.

Having the experience under your belt of dealing with that just makes you more antifragile and resilient.

      Rooting for you!

It's been a year now and we are doing well. Thanks for the encouragement back then.

        1. 1

Thrilled to hear that! Keep on keeping on as they say :D

        Thank you so much @roznoshchik

We would keep winning always. Whatever doesn't kill us only makes us stronger!

Well done - I also am reaching these first few small milestones and it's so important! If you'd like any help from a web design / marketing front, let me know, I'd be happy to help you out!

Thank you! Rooting for your success!

A friend helped me put together a new landing page already, I just don't have the time to devote a weekend to putting it up at the moment.

There's some legal stuff to also take care of before I can really move forward. I still don't have a TOS and Privacy policy up. So I'm actually at the point where better marketing would possibly be harmful haha.

But thank you for the offer! I'll slowly get to where I'm headed :D

      1. 2

Ah amazing - wishing you all the best, and can't wait to see where it goes!

Thanks! Despite having a Twitter account since the earliest days, I still feel like it's a world that just escapes me. But you're totally right about the value of being in that community and the support and connection you feel just seeing other people hacking away publicly like that.

My progress is so slow that I'm not even sure i have any sort of regular cadence to share with, but I'll start seeing what's happening there.

Thanks so much for the recommendation! I've been lurking around them for a while, although felt very much that as I'm not building a SaaS product it's maybe not the right space for me, maybe that's not true though...

Well done! 2 will be 20 before you know it!

    1. 1

I would love for that to be the case :)

Have some mktg related work to do for that to be the case. A new landing page is long over due.

  8. 2

Thos first couple of sales are hugely important milestones. Well done!

    1. 1

Thanks. Its been a long time coming haha. 1.5 years to get to the 2nd paying customer. Hopefully that interval starts to shorten 😂

  9. 1

Yay! How long did it take to get your first compared to this one?

    1. 1

First took about a year. Guess this one was around 6 months after haha. So the time is def shrinking.

  10. 1

Congrats. Sounds like you have 100% growth there! 😀 Can't wait for the day we have 2 paying customers.

    1. 2

Haha for sure. This is the time to brag about metrics. 200% yoy growth!

  11. 1

Congrats Rostislav, the journey of a thousand miles begins with 1 step! How long ago did you start?

    1. 1

Thanks! It's coming close to 2 years hacking away now. :) But it's not been full-time. More like periodic bursts

  12. 1

Good job! Keep up the momentum :D

  13. 1

Great achievement. How long have soy been working on sour project before any paying customers?

    1. 2

Hey man. I really think im an aexception, but maybe I'm actually the norm? :)

It took me close to a year to get the first paying customer, and then almost another 6 months to get to the next one.

      So hella slow :)

My focus hasn't been on getting customers though. But just on slowly building a solid product that I want to use, and slowly learning about all elements of running a business by working on this.

Maybe if sales was my focus, the product would be further along as I wouldn't be working on other projects to pay the bills.

But I'm pretty happy with the speed at which things are progressing. Slowly filling in the gaps in the product and my knowledge. And giving myself the opportunity to focus in on specific elements of running a business.

Next is getting some legal protections for myself in place and then a focus on mktg and onboarding.

I'll be redoing the landing page, publishing some content, and getting automated emails in place to reconnect with my inactive users and reengaging them with what's changed and is now possible.

      1. 2

Sounds like a plan! You can try unicornplatform for redoing the landing page :) It’s a quick & easy tool with great results!

  14. 1

    Very exciting. Well done!

  15. 1

Awesome work mate, keep it up!

      Thanks for the support!
