3 reasons why your startup should move from Heroku to AWS

  1. 1

If you have high performance demands, then AWS is probably a better fit for you (at SendMan we need that sort of performance to allow managing push notifications and preferences at scale).

Having said that, most startups here don’t need fancier tech than what Heroku so easily offers. Product market fit and business goals are way more important.

One of the startups I consult to has reached millions in MRR with a tech stack built on Heroku. Premature optimization can hurt a young business, so watch out for that.

  2. 1

    Bahaha nice joke.

But really only switch to AWS if you already know it or have time to learn it. If you're comparing your startup to 'Airbnb' because they use AWS I'm pretty sure you're doing it wrong. As a startup, don't worry about infrastructure and get to product market fit and make money first... Then feel free to switch to AWS.
