I’m building 12 products in 12 months, this is how week two went

The two major aspects of my website which I focused on were the design of the homepage and the admin area.

The design for the homepage is done, I still have to make it dynamic by loading the blog posts and projects, but the layout is completely done. I'm still struggling to use the right classes, add the correct custom CSS, but I'm happy with my decision to go with Bootstrap. This allows me to put something good (enough) looking together.

The admin area has gotten all necessary parts. I can create and update blog posts, projects and milestones. I added the milestones in during the week, because I had an idea of what the projects page should look like and milestones are a part of that idea. Next week I will be designing that part of the website as well.

I wrote more about it in a longer blog post on Medium that you can check here: https://medium.com/@terryverduijn/im-building-12-products-in-12-months-this-is-how-week-two-went-bc748b7271b8. In this blog post I also talk about my forming habits and the increase of my online presence.

Next week I will be launching my website, so an exciting week is coming up. Follow me on IH or Twitter to stay updated about my progress.

You already show great commitment by staying in it for two weeks. 🙌 Awesome!

Is your website 1 of the 12 products you're building?
Looking at your daily recap, the product and audience are a bit missing to me. Do you have those clear? Otherwise you risk being really busy and spending time on great things, that don't really contribute to your goals.

BTW this is said with love and respect for what you're doing!

Thanks! Yeah, my website is my first project. I started with this just to get in the flow of working on something next to my day job.

The next project will be focused in building a micro-saas.

The audience for my blog is basically anyone who is interested in doing a challenge like this themselves. But I'm learning a lot of things now, also more about writing and writing for an audience, so I'm sure this will improve over time.

Thank you for your kind words! Always love to hear from fellow Dutch Indie Hackers!

Excited to follow along on your journey! I'm also challenging myself to build 6 side projects this year. You're definitely on another level!

Thanks Hugh! I will be following you as well. Good luck with your six projects.

Hey, Terry 👋 Good luck with your endeavor. Keep updating!

I started the quite same journey, and one question that bothers me a lot is:

Should I build all the projects in one niche to get the cumulative effect, or can I expose myself to a different set of markets?

How are you going to do it?

I am currently focusing on API mostly, but I do not restrict myself to.

      Hi Dmytro,
Thanks! I will share my progress here as well as on Twitter.

Regarding your question: I've read your plan, so I would suggest sticking with one niche and go from there. You'll never know what comes across your path.

I've got a few ideas in mind, but I probably will have to talk to potential customers more to find out where the problems are to solve problems. It's not specific for one niche, but as I'm doing a project each month, I might need to limit this.
