52 Followers on Twitter! How I got to this unimpressive following and what's next.

A few months back, I set out to start increasing my twitter following. It was super low as I'd just returned to twitter and started with a fresh account.

I know 52 isn't a lot, but I'm happy about the progress so far!

My goal was to do a few things:

  1. Tweet about specific content (JS/Node/TypeScript, software development, and startups)
  2. Grow an audience interested in those topics (#1).
  3. Not get followers from friends/family, or tweets irrelevant to #1.

I don't want to spend all my time on Twitter, but want to tweet valuable things. My approach is this:

  1. Schedule tweets that (hopefully) add value. Scheduling lets me think more clearly, and compose my thoughts ahead of time. It also helps me stay consistent, even if my days are busy.
  2. Check-in on twitter and look to engage with folks. Reply to tweets. Retweet relevant stuff from #1 above.

I know there are lots of folks on here with far more followers. Would love to hear more tips?

And, if you're interested, you can give me a follow on Twitter.
