21 SEO lessons from growing Flexiple’s traffic from 4,000 to 40,000 in 6 months👇🏼

Just wanted to ask, did you implement any link generating strategies like Profile creations on different websites, directory submissions when your platform was new?

I tried to list Flexiple on places I thought were relevant to startups, not from a link building perspective but generally to distribute Flexiple.

Having said that, I think directory submissions aren't a good idea. I think guest posts should be the way forward till you reach a respectable DR (say higher 20s/early 30s).

Getting just 10-15 links from respectable websites can get you there.

I also think so. Just wanted to confirm from someone who has passed through that stage and build decent traffic. BTW congratulations on your product growth. I have seen it and found it really useful.

Very cool, thanks for sharing. Just curious, how much of your traffic is long tail keywords vs. high traffic keywords? I see that Flextiple is on page 1 for "hire freelance developers" which I would imagine is a huge amount of traffic.

Hmm, the distribution is something I should dig into, so don't have an answer right off the bat.

But yes, I have made a set of "marketing pages" for what I think are high-intent keywords (not necessary long-tail) such as "hire freelance developers". These were actually tough to rank for, but I made them anyway at the very beginning.

Simultaneously, I also started working on high traffic keywords, for which we had to write blogs. I chose only those that were easy to rank for. Now, once these started ranking, I started giving internal links from these to the marketing pages, so the "value" of those pages also started increasing and they started ranking better.

Even the high traffic keywords while not having very high purchasing intent, are related to my industry (software development) - so that helps too.

Sounds like a good strategy. Thanks for sharing!

I read and took notes. My favorite point was that customer accounts were at the top of the website homepage. Creative.
