    I agree, overselling in the research phase tends to carry significant risks of distorting the information you gathered.

    Even when speaking more generally, for example in the case of BotMeNot, I tend not to oversell it, at least not in the way you described. I think being straightforward about your product's features and benefits is a solid long-term approach.
