Hey guys, i was curious. Do you search for Saas or other types of products and how do you find them?
I'll start:
- Google (It's ok but very limited)
- Product Hunt (good for new/recent products but has very limited search and filtering options)
- Capterra.com (Too corporate and i can never find what i want)
- g2.com (Somewhat decent results but search is very limited)
- stackshare.io (More dev oriented)
Which service(s) do you use?
I actually used to use directory sites like that but found that, like you said, they are kindda set up so you have to go on them every day and just see what new products launched.
So I used to bookmark any products that I thought I will find useful in the future, so I can find them again when I will potentially need them.
It got to the point that I had so many bookmarked products that I couldn't find stuff easily anymore though 😅 , so I ended up making my own product ( CtrlAlt.CC ) that contains the products in my bookmarks (+ a lot of other ones now) and it lets you find tools with filters, search & you can also see what products other people on the the platform use for various tasks. You can save any tools that you are interested in, in your profile, so you don't have to fill your bookmarks with stuff.
Happy to send you a waitlist bypass code if you would find access to the Beta useful! (we're still developing a few things before opening it up & getting everybody from the waitlist on)
The messaging on the landing page seems different from what you described but i would love to try it.
Interesting! Our focus audience right now are people in the process of making their products and tools finding is just part of what they can do on the platform. But would defo love to hear your thoughts on the landing page messaging though!
Here is a code that you can use to access the Beta: ArthurCCinviteDEC21 . It can be used on this page: https://ctrlalt.cc/bypass-waitlist/
Give me a shout if you need any help!
I also use sometimes https://betalist.com
I have 2 major sources of so far unknown software tools (SaaS, OSX, iOS, etc.).
Alternatively, maybe through newsletters, but the social proof is usually not good enough for me. Newsletters are not about finding new products, but about reading and learning.
