The workflow of its usage consists of multiple steps and screens. What would be the best way to walk them through the tool?

What would be the best way to teach new users how to use a complex tool?
  1. Video tutorial
  2. PDF booklet
  3. Interactive tutorial
  4. UX hints
  5. Other (please comment)

Thanks a lot for your comprehensive insights. I still think that a PDF booklet could be a viable way about informing how to use a tool (at least in addition to a video tutorial). Because you can pack more information in it, and it's easier to update it to make things clearer or to describe new features added.
