Hey IH, Marcel here.
Finally, a monthly stats I'm proud of.
Even though January was the first month with revenue ($5 from a Patreon sponsor), February is the first one with considerable numbers. So let's go straight to it:
$174.99 in sales
$35.00 in sponsorship
36,805 visitors
178,880 page views
200+ newsletter subscribers
The bump in the numbers is due to Dev Resources being launched on Product Hunt, and the site being shared on a few platforms by myself and other people.
But the initial hype is gone. It's now time to keep around those who already came by. For that, a few more dynamic features are coming in the next days and weeks: upvoting, commenting and bookmarking.
But not only that, I also need to step up the selling game, as this is not a SaaS per se.
Would love to hear your thoughts on that, especially on creating revenue from a platform that has the goal of distributing information for free.
Have a nice week!
🤙
That's great Marcel! Hopefully you can keep up the growth.
I think that people like free - software, information, services, etc. If you can give away free information, but manage to sell sponsorships, advertising, promotions without affecting the user experience, it can be a very desirable business model.
Exactly, that's my plan for the next couple of months, finding the ramen profitability through sponsors and ads, but without jeopardizing the overall experience.
Maybe at some point including some premium features also, would love seeing how that goes.
Congrats! No matter how long I've been an indie hacker, those first customers of a new product are always the most exciting!
But, now comes the hard part—sustaining growth. Keep it up.
Thank you!
Indeed, it felt great making my first sale, feeling of mission accomplished.
But yeah, now the hard part comes, keeping them around and growing with it.
