Accounting and Inventory Management


Does anyone have any good resources for understanding the relationship between accounting systems and inventory management systems. I don't have a great mental model for it. I noticed that there are a bunch of third-party add-ons for things like QBO and Xero that do inventory management. I really want to understand what data goes back-and-forth, what data is local to each system, and what data is shared. Any pointers would be appreciated.
