After Zoom fatigue, what's the future of communication with your remote teams?

I just came across a term #zoomfatigue and I think this is a real problem.

Just check it out on Twitter about this and you'll find so many tweets and I think that this will evolve the async voice communication industry to next level.

We have a few members of our team from different time-zones and that can be a problem for them as well, for scheduling the meeting accordingly.

What are your thoughts on this?

How do you communicate with your remote team?

I was on a Clubhouse chat last night where Sahil was saying that he's moving from Zoom to Clubhouse for Gumroad.

He's basically all in on Clubhouse.

That's what I m thinking in the long run, all the video platform need to come up with the voice tech solutions. To fulfil the demands.

We're building Circles for Zoom to address this when you need to attend Zoom meetings. Circles aims to get out of your way so you can get your desktop back during calls as well as providing power-user features on top of Zoom.

Having the huge Zoom window in your face all day is draining, hopefully this helps! Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback if you're open to trying it out!

We use Tandem internally and it's waaaaay better than Zoom for remote teams.

For one, we generally just do audio so it's less intensive. It also removes so much friction from just grabbing a quick call or screen share that we have less formal meetings because of it.

You can just click on someone's name and almost instantly have a quick chat.

That's a nice product, I didn't come across that yet, thanks @mattcrail for sharing this.

The voice message is way more effective than text messages, it gives more clarity on the discussion.

Millions of peolpe still use zoom and I don't think company will collapse so quickly.
    Google has alternative called "Meet"
    Facebook got "Facebook rooms"
Plus many not so famous platforms to use.
I haven't got invitation to Clubhouse, but as far as I understand it is a bit different because there are no video, only voice.

I m not saying it'll collapse at all, it's just that they has to come up with more solutions for remote teams.

I am building Tappy👈: a Clubhouse for remote teams. When people need to talk, our drop-in audio lets them spark a conversation with a single click.

Surprisingly, National Bureau of Economic Research data months into the pandemic shows that teams tried to bridge the distance by sending more emails—but that didn’t last.
Instead, there’s a now desire to talk more frequently for less time:
Teams are meeting 13% more often, for 20% less time.

That’s a step in the direction of the more fluid conversation, but we’re not there yet: the average meeting is still 48 minutes long.

We’ve been inspired by the growth of remote work, but at the same time, we’ve also seen teams struggling with lack of communication, delays in productivity, and isolation. We think that a real-time, frictionless connection can solve the problem.

Zoom fatigue is real. Video calls make everyone feel the way people on TV feel every slouchy, every mumble, every interruption is magnified. Drop-in audio talk lets remote teams start a conversation with a single click.

There are more tools coming out that are written, also, to help you avoid the meeting in the first place. Almanac is one, where you use documents and a merge-request like workflow to have discussions and make decisions. I'm building one called AsyncGo. Twist by Doist is also more written-communication oriented.

I think for a lot of people having so much audio/recorded video/live video communication isn't really natural or an effective use of time.
