Am I onto anything here?

Hey everyone.

I've always been full of ideas but reluctant to actually move forward with any. That changes now.

I've put together a simple landing page to try and validate an idea, and I'd love to get your feedback. Please take a look at the page below and let me know if you see value in this, if the page makes it clear enough, if there's anything that would hold you back from joining the waitlist or any other feedback that would be helpful.

Thank you.

Fwiw, as a busy entrepreneur, I don't personally need another platform where I can go see what others are building.

Even if the primary motivation is the hope to get others convinced to share information about my project on their social media, I can't see me ever sharing some random people's projects on social media.

Though, I'm not super active on social media, so maybe I'm not the target demo :)

    Good luck though.

      Thanks for the feedback, Mike.

It certainly isn't for everyone. But then again, nothing is. Hopefully there are enough people who do see the value in recopricity as a growth tactic to make this idea viable.

THat's what I'm trying to find out here.

This seems like an interesting idea. Although i wonder how much people would be willing to send ads on their social media for others.

I did get confused on step 3. I'm not sure what you mean by up vote and which page you are referring to.

Using your own launch as an example is clever but sometimes it makes it hard to tell when your explanation ends and the example begins.

      Thanks for the feedback Artur.

I don't image this really being about sending ads, so much as sharing blog posts, Product Hunt pages, etc. This is something many people already do, especially if it fits within their own niche.

The upvote would be for whatever page is entered when the campaign is created. For example, if you submit content to GrowthHackers.org, you could include the link to that GH page and request that people upvote it. I think this could also be a popular and helpful features with ProductHunt pages. A couple of people have mentioned this part is confusing, so I will need to revise that part of the landing page.

Your last comment is a good point. I hadn't even considered that.

How do you want to ensure that my project was actually properly shared? A person who has 1000 followers on Twitter and someone who has 10 followers has a different impact. Also, I wouldn't want to share something that doesn't fit in the topic my audience normally expects.

Thanks for the feedback, Hannes. My plan is to try and keep things simple at first and see how it works out. If more complex validation of proper sharing becomes an issue, I will address that at that time.

I wouldn't expect you or anyone to share something that doesn't fit with your brand or audience expectations. People won't be required to share anything they don't want to. It's completely voluntary, although it is encouraged to give and not just take. The projects will also be categorized into different industry/topic areas to make it easier for people to find relevant campaigns.

Does that help ease the concerns that would prevent you from signing up? Is there anything else you would suggest?

      1. 1

        Nope :)

Keep in mind the time to validate the quality of a project. When I share something to my followers I have to make sure the quality is at a certain degree so that I can put my word behind. If I would share bad quality service/website, I would lose follower. That means, before I share, I have to invest time into the quality validation of the product your service wants me to share.

Fair enough. I appreciate your honesty and perspective.

This reminds of those Clubhouse rooms where nobody talks but everyone follows each others socials. If those can gain high traction on clubhouse that could be a good indicator that this idea may succeed as well.

I haven't explored Clubhouse at all, so I wasn't even aware of those rooms. I'll have to check that out. Thanks.

I felt confronted by the immediate request for my email address (which I'm tired of giving out). The first thing I'd like to see is some promise of benefit to me or at least a very quick understanding of what you are doing. I don't know if this is any help but I'd work on the messaging. Maybe something like,

    𝙀𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙪𝙧𝙨,

𝘼𝙙𝙙 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙑𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙏𝙤 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙑𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝘼𝙙𝙙𝙚𝙙
    𝙑𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨

                        - 𝙊𝙣𝙚 𝙀𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙪𝙧 𝙃𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧

Best of luck! These "seeds" always grow when time and effort is put into evolving them.

      Thanks for the feedback.

I was following best practices by including a CTA above the fold, but I get where you're coming from. I do plan on refining the messaging as I go. Ideally I'd like to get to a point where I can generate enough traffic to do some valid split testing. For now, I just wanted to get something up quickly to see if there is any interest in the idea.

Just checked out, Sean. Neat concept!

    Some thoughts:

    1. You don't need first-person language "I'm building", etc. Just say "a community of..."
    2. You keep saying "upvote" throughout the page. I think this is confusing. The main idea, if I got it correctly, is that people share each others' projects on their own social media. The fact that you can also upvote inside the community is a little irrelevant.
You should emphasis this specific idea. Things like:
"Find other projects that you like and could be relevant for your followers, and share them on your social channels. Promote your project in the community and have others share them with their community."

Thanks for the feedback, Dan. I appreciate it.

With the upvoting, it not that people would upvote things on the platform itself. The idea is that they could request that people upvote their content or product on a site like Product Hunt or Indie Hackers. I guess I need to make that a bit more clear.
