Any tips on how to journal a new side project

Hello IH,

I'm currently thinking of a new side project, and I think I will be able to allocate 1 or 2 days a week into it. It is still only in my head, but I would love to use the holidays to kickstart it and make it a bit more tangible.

I was thinking of journaling the whole process for myself in order to follow the progress and also to make me more committed and accountable. And therefore I was also thinking to share it with the world.

  • Would this be something IH would be interested to follow?
  • What kind of content do you think it would you be interesting to share?
  • Any idea on which media and which platform to do it?
  • Do you know of any similar good examples out there?

Thanks in advance,
Miguel

I love tinyletter for this kind of thing. Easy to publish straight from your email client. Has nice archiving. And there's something about not being able to edit that I weirdly love.

Thanks for the tip, I like it although I'll start with a blog for now, and will keep that in mind for a future newsletter edition.

I would recommend starting a personal blog, could be your site or the site for your project. Commit to publishing there on a fixed schedule. When you do, announce it on Twitter, IH, and anywhere where it's relevant. Don't just spam links on other platforms, give an appropriate summary then the link. On Twitter, that might be a thread. On indiehackers, it might be a few paragraphs that summarize the post.

It's smart to journal about the process. This is one of the best ways to build an audience and potentially find early adopters!

Not the biggest fan of Medium for some reason. I decided to go with a static blog using Hugo (gohugo.io).
