Anyone here that tried to test their SAAS idea with a clickable mockup?

I'm curious, how did you create the mocks?

By yourself or hired an agency/freelancer? If yes, where did you find him/her?

Thanks.

I did them myself, as part of the problem research. I tend to keep it simple from the start.
When there is no time, I put sketches (done on iPad) as slide deck (e.g. Google presentation or Keynote,...). There are no active spots, but when clicked it just goes to the next slide. Sometime this is enough.

Recently I did one mockup using Adobe XD, which was simple to start with, and could be made more interactive. But looking back at it, the slides would suffice here too. :)

I think the benefit of using something like Adobe XD is that you can easily move things around and iterate after few sessions. Rather with sketches, it is a bit mor clumsy, doable, but clumsy.

      Thanks for your comment.

I prefer Figma, but I've heard Adobe XD is a great alternative.

How did you use the mockup? Was it for a presentation or user testing?

It was for ideation and then presentation.
I was working on specs that I could then hand over to the dev team, so they can start working on it.

    Yes!
I made the designs for my tool in XD to get a quick working prototype. It's good just to figure out basic UX of the product (like if button placement is good etc), but can't exactly use it for idea validation for a SaaS tool.

To truly figure out if your SaaS idea is good or not, you have to talk to your users and build an MVP that users can use for a while. Only then you can understand if it is adding value to their work or life. A clickable prototype is just a 5-10mins interview where the user will just say it looks nice or it looks usable or it looks like a good idea, but they're all momentary opinions that don't matter unless they get hands-on experience. D you get me?
