You know those onboarding flow things which point out useful features in a SaaS (usually with a tooltip), or sometimes give a fully guided tour?
My feeling is that most users skip these, but I think there is value in something very minimal.
Can anyone recommend a good example of this kind of thing so I can get some UX inspiration?
Thanks!
Follow up: I did come across this tool (no affiliation) which looks handy
Hey, Chris!
I just watched an interesting talk by Luke Wroblewski from Google’s Conversions conference in 2019. He speaks about onboarding flows, as part of a bigger talk on gaps in design, and shows what generally works better: https://youtu.be/mAiNdU1go1A.
Thanks Ryan. I ended up finding this article which was quite helpful. They gave the Ninox cloud DB as a great example of onboarding - I liked the look of the gifs. Then I go and sign up for a trial to see the onbaording in action and looks like they've removed it!
This is exactly my fear with this kind of thing, it sounds like a great idea, then you do it and realize no one uses it.
Ended up studying Trello as an example. But I don't know about these checklists - they feel kind of lame.
