Anyone selling his bootstrapped business?

I obviously know about other platforms that are dedicated to selling (micro)businesses, but I wanted to check in here too. Any founders out there that either no longer have the energy to grow their project or maybe it's growing too fast for you? Or you have some initial traction and no idea how to nurture that further?

I've been leading growth/marketing teams in global SaaS companies and I know how to acquire users. I would just love to get a head start with a product that is already there.

Mostly interested in SaaS, but could also be digital downloads, communities or anything else.

I might also be interested in other offers than a cold acquisition, but that would depend on the specifics.

      I know about MA, did a (very small) acquisition there last year. But I would love to get in touch with passionate founders here too. The businesses on MA are often already a bit more established. I'm open to newer ventures with less traction too.

          Quick question -- above you said "they have really great projects..." but in your IH profile it looks like it's your project?

          When you mentioned they, what did you mean? Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything obvious.

          Also, how are you finding & attracting buyers to your platform?

            Yeah. It's mine :)

            I mostly use Twitter, Indie Hackers, and Product Hunt to find cool micro startups.

            I discuss different options with founders as well as selling. Just propose help and answer their questions.

    I started statsout.com two months ago but had to focus on another project because I ran out of money. It's just sitting there without any marketing, waiting for a couple crucial features and integration to be implemented. The future depends on how well my other project goes.

      Cool dashboard.

      Seems as though an app like yours has to have a killer value prop to make it a need-to-have product vs a nice-to-have.

      What do you think sets your app apart from the others?

        Statsout is much, much simpler to set up. It's also meant to give a quick overview of all your important stats rather than perform deep dives into the data.

        It also has a notifications system (closed beta though) that can send daily reports and alerts.

        I'm well aware of all the competition out there but choose not to focus too much on them and their functionality and target audience. Everything's been made already but the pie can divided in infinite slices.

          Gotcha -- I certainly appreciate your coding and UX talent. The site looks nice, and the messaging of a central dashboard is well done.

          The thing I struggle with, just from an end user's pov, is how much value does a consolidated dashboard of information offer?

          This doesn't specifically relate to Statsout, but stats in general. Sometimes it's helpful to look at information to get a sense of what's happening, but if there isn't something actionable to take away from it, then it's just information.

          In other words, seeing my data in a central dashboard is not solving a problem (for me). Sure I may learn something interesting by overlaying multiple data points, but that isn't compelling enough a reason for me to want to subscribe to a service like that. If I look at the reports for 15-30 days in a row, and I can't get something actionable out of it, it's not helping me.

          I can get all the information from the different tools, and I'm already in those tools daily. So seeing the information together is possibly, at best, a possible nice-to-have, and not a need-to-have.

          I'm only subscribing to stuff I need to do my daily work.

          So, if you can find a true pain-point to solve, where the reports/charts can uncover something truly helpful (how to: lower abandons, increase sales, grow subscribers, actually fix slow page load-time speeds, etc.), then it might be something that would attract subscribers.

          If it had some connectors to several affiliate platforms, that might be slightly more compelling for me in one of my use-cases. If you'd like to learn more about that, feel free to email me via the email in my IH profile.

            I though about this a lot. During development I actually "pivoted" to a marketplace thing where you can post your verified stats to either sell or get investments or find advertisers. But then I decided to go the dashboard route because I was worried about all the platforms disabling access to their APIs if I suddenly started using their stats to do business. The functionality to create verified pages/listings is actually still there but I just disabled it.

              Actually, when I referred to affiliates, I meant incorporating affiliate revenue information into the dashboard.

              Meaning, if I'm generating revenue through GoAffPro, Share-a-Sale, CJ, Impact Radius, Affiliatly, Avantlink, Refersion, Secomapp, etc, it would easier to see certain consolidated stats in one location versus going to all of them.

              Also, a potentially killer (convenient) feature would be to be able to auto-login to all the platforms your dashboard supports. I does kinda suck to have to login to all these platforms. I know I can store password info in certain browser tools, but I only do that sparingly.

          I wouldn't particularly set those apart from the others, but some of the tools seem to be more focused on Marketing Metrics, some CRM, and others Performance-related.

          Don't know if I'd use any of those tools that I listed, unless I could find some actual cases of what each tool uncovered that the business wouldn't have found out otherwise.

          Of course for bigger companies, I could see why consolidated reporting could be helpful (tracking progress on kpis/goals), but for a IH like me, central dashboards don't yet solve a pain point.

          I look at reports all the time, but 99.5% of the time, I can't find anything actionable out of them.

          If there were any tool that I use most often, it would be Google Search Console. It does a good job of understanding SEO efforts pretty well, and can help find opportunities to get more search traffic.

    Hi Sven, we are a creative programming team launching a Headless CMS. Basically we allow you to create content from a beautiful interface for marketers and then that content is available via REST API to send it to any channel, device or front where you want to show it.

    It is a SaaS software with a lot of global potential but that we have not yet been able to get off the ground.

    We are not looking to sell, it would be much better to have a specialist like you to grow our Startup abroad (we currently operate in LATAM) and offer you a good percentage of it for an investment that we deem appropriate.
