Are you setting your limits?

Hours and hours at a computer is bad for your eyes, back, neck, and posture.

I am a witness to that. 😅

It's important to take regular brakes while you work and replace it with activity that keeps you healthy and strong. 💪

Such as going for a walk, talking to someone, or getting a drink of water.

I am completely aware of these common practices, yet have trouble following them often.

What are some ways you are combating this struggle in your every day lives?

What could make this issue easier to face?

    1. Get a good ergonomic chair, desk and general setup.
    2. First thing in the morning, I refill the large bottle of water on my desk so it's with me the entire day.
    3. I use a countdown timer to pace my work. I find that 20 minute intervals works best for me, but others may like the pomodoro method or other timer intervals. Experiment and see what works best for you. When the timer runs down, I ask myself if I need a break or just get up and walk around the house for a couple minutes. Sometimes get a snack or coffee. The timer for me is a guide, not a hard rule. If I'm on a roll, I may skip a break. But if I'm feeling worn down, it's a good reminder to get up and move around.

When I bought a standing desk, I wondered if:

    1. It was a good idea.
    2. I would really stand and program at the same time.
    3. I was crazy.

I think it's the best investment I've made the last 10 years. I love it so much. 💓

Other than that, I'm doing some pomodoros too and I have a whole system for organizing my work (mindmap + GTD for the win!). Most of the time when my pomodoro is over I just stretch for 5 minutes, sit down or stand up depending on what I was doing before, and I'm ready to rock!

Nice, glad to know it helped!
