Are you still using Gmail for your projects?

You know, to email prospects, sign up for stuff, pitch to publications etc etc?

If you are, drop me a line. I’m thinking of launching mailboxes for custom domains built into GitHub pages. Would this be of interest to you?

    Interesting idea. I'm in.

Great! Let me get that landing page ready and get you on to the DL.

  2. 2

    Yes. Really interested .

Cool. Let me get a landing page ready to get your email. How much would you be willing to pay for such a product?

      1. 1

You can get a Landing page here.

I am bias, because is my product. ..😀

Well, I can't tell you how much I would be willing to pay because I haven't seen the features...nor what it does, the UI... I need to see it and be able to play with it

Those are some really wicked templates! I’m only comfortable with bulma so anything outside that becomes hard for me to buy and customize but that said, I really like the templates.

I understand about not bring able to say that you need to look at the product before deciding how much it is worth to you. I’ll probably make a teaser video along with it like Drew did with Dropbox.

          1. 1

In that case feel free to download here that I made ages ago with Bulma.

            https://github.com/michael-andreuzza/Free-Bulma-Templates.

Let me know when you have the video up!

All your demo pages give me a 404 but I’ll fork your project and play around with it. On GH, I’m saiorama

Oh man. Sorry U completely forgot....

                Do whatever with them.

I'd be interested but let's all be realistic, "mailboxes" does not equal "Gmail".

The amount of features and integrations that come with gmail are ridiculous.

      I’d be interested

Great. Let me get a landing page ready.

True that gmail is very feature heavy but the Pareto principle holds for it too- 80% of our work is handled by 20% of their features.

I use Zoho Mail as it offers 5 free mailboxes on a custom domain. That’s usually all I need for small projects.

    1. 1

Hmm, is there anything Zoho lacks that could make you pick this for the next project?

      1. 1

Only downside is no IMAP/POP3 access so I have to use the Zoho app/site to check it.

        1. 1

Ah, so you would like to integrate with mail clients? I can give you a API but this won’t integrate with a mail client either.

I feel this is a limitation of mail clients who assumed they would only work with pop3/imap. The world is now serverless. Mail clients need to adapt. Maybe there is a opportunity there!

I'd also like some more info. And yes, I'm still using Gmail very actively. Especially in combination with MailMeteor, a product I rave about (great mail merge tool for Gmail)

If you want to increase your productivity using Gmail, I think usepinbox.com would be a great tool for you!

      1. 1

Looks cool - I'm certainly interested in trying it!

        1. 1

Awesome! I'll keep you up to date

    2. 1

Great let me get a landing page ready to get your email

Nothing beats Gmail in terms of features and integrations, so we use it for all our side projects. It also costs zero to add new domains to our account so we can host everything in one place for one small fee. We use Mixmax as a layer on top of Gmail and love it.

    1. 1

Very true that gmail has a lot going for it. Also true that on average, 80% of your work is handled by 20% of the features.

If you are already invested in the gmail ecosystem, this product is not going to be able to replace that.

  7. 1

Sounds interesting! What do you mean by "built into GitHub pages"?

    1. 1

What I mean is that your inbox on your custom domain would be a page in GitHub like https://abc.GitHub.io/inbox where abc is your GitHub username.

You would simply fork a project of mine, sign up for the product, and start receiving emails on your custom domain once the DNS settings take effect.
