Are you working on multiple projects as freelance dev?

Hi everyone!

I'm working as freelance dev. Currently having around 4-6 ongoing / support projects and it is always a pain point for me to change the environment between these projects. Even if i'm using docker...

Steps be like:

  1. Stop current project docker containers
  2. Stop yarn / npm etc...
  3. Close IDE
  4. Cd to other project
  5. Run docker
  6. Run npm / yarn etc...
  7. Open IDE for that project.
  8. Open project in chrome

It would be great to do that with 1 command / GUI

What do you think?

  1. 1

No, I handle one for a contract and then my own.

Even worse than tooling, which can be annoying, is actually the lost of context, focus, and attention.

  2. 1

I use the stream deck app on my phone and have a bunch of macros setup to control my laptop. I have some buttons that open my side project, run npm start, run the backend etc.

I have buttons that start my normal day job projects. Some that open up GitHub, etc.

Thinking about making a blog post on how to set it up!
