After building a product, I find it demoralizing to also put in the time to build internal tools to help me manage the app's data. I discovered https://retool.com from a SaaS podcast, and I have to say it's pretty awesome.
Is anyone else using it? And what's your experience so far?
I've been using Retool for IH for a couple years now. It's significantly faster than building custom internal tools from scratch, which is what I was doing before.
Same. I was worried about the learning curve. But it's surprisingly intuitive once after watching their first "howto" video. Currently adding API to send analytical data to it.
I know of them, but never used them - Airtable + Zapier + ... work still pretty well for me!
If that combination is getting the job done, no need to change.
Have been eyeing it for a while too. Curious to see the answers.
I have played with Retool, and it is a fantastic tool, but IMO they need to offer just a little bit more on the free tier. I was able to build some simple dashboards, but couldn't really experiment with complex ones because of the limitations of the free tier.
I understand they want to limit certain things for the paid plans, but I think they could have given just a bit more scope to allow someone to build something that they couldn't live without, then make them pull out their wallet to keep improving it.
Had never heard of retool. 0:52 into the demo, I'm hooked. I've spent waaaayyy too much time building internal tools for my projects and this looks like a massive time saver
I looked into retool and I'm excited about it. But I'm using metabase for most of my internal work. That said, my internal tools for the moment are just showing/reporting tools.
