Ask IH: Basecamp decides to ban political discussions internally, What would you do?

I have a couple of questions for fellow Indie Hackers:

1. Would you ban political, societal discussions internally?
   I think it makes sense, especially if it's getting too toxic and getting in the way of work

2. Cancelling committees - Having a single person in charge of DEI seems a bit off. This is something precisely that should be done by a multi-person committee.
