Asking for reviews: how long after book purchase?

My book is for sale at Gumroad. I set up a workflow to email readers one week after the purchase and ask to leave a star rating.

One week seems to stike the right balance between giving the reader some time to check out the book, gently encouraging rating before they forget what they read, and not appearing pushy. But I've seen another Gumroad author email readers just 3 days after the purchase.

Isn't 3 days a bit early? How long after the purchase do you ask your reders for ratings or reviews?

3 days is definitely too early to me. 1 week is reasonable.

When I sold ebooks I also did the following:

    1. Quick note at the beginning asking for a review with a clickable URL link
    2. Full page personal appeal asking for review at the end of the book, again with clickable URLs
    3. A bonus content lead magnet via email signup (to collect emails since I was selling on Amazon/iBooks which do not provide customer emails), and once the user subscribes and gets the bonus content, ask for a review one more time in that email.

Thanks. In #1 and #2 do you mean within the book?

      1. 1

Yep. #3 is both in marketing/website/product description and also in book
