Hey IH,
I'd like to get your opinion on an idea that I had.
In my opinion, one of the most powerful ways to teach a user how to do something on your website is by creating a video showing them how to do it.
The issue with this is that the moment you update your UI, the video already becomes outdated. I think that this is a potential showstopper for most people.
My idea is to create a service that can auto-generate videos based on user interaction with the site. Meaning:
At some point in the future, when your website changes, the service will generate a new video that now has the new UI updates.
Thoughts?
Oh, I replied to another comment of yours, but I wonder if https://docs.cypress.io/guides/guides/screenshots-and-videos covers that use case
I could potentially use them for actually creating the video, but I think I need something a bit more flexible.
I don't remember the name right now but this exists and is a solid product.
If you remember what it's called, I 'd love to know.
Interesting idea. For sure it is a hassle to make these videos.
Thanks! Have you ever made these types of videos before? I'd love to hear more about the pain points from you.
My Twitter is https://twitter.com/JacobBeckerman
Yes, I did many times. Also when working for a big agency, for professional videos, for which companies paid 8k. I had to manually do this. It took so much time, and also the mouse pointer does not run smoothly.
Ideally.... you let people dictate the flow and you also simulate the mousepointer.... basically you dont want to track the mouse... you just want to highlight where you click. You could render this in different options.
Also the scrolling, you want to let it flow gently. Doing this manually. You have to do this over and over again.
Sounds like something cool you are working on!
Amazing! Do you have twitter? I'd love to stay in contact with you to keep you updated with this.
