Automated follow-up tools and the transactional fluff we send our users.
We're so spammed and bombarded by them, that genuine contact/connection is pretty much impossible when over text/email as it is likely a bot.
A user on IndieHackers had an invite for people to reach out if they had something to share.
It could be that my style is to write a bit formal (Based in England, maybe our writing style comes across differently) or that this user receives hundreds of such messages.
Upon emailing him, I was met with a lovely reply which broke my faith in email communication for first impressions.
"Unsubscribe"
We get so many transactional and automated greetings, when an actual human messages, how do we tell the difference and create a real connection?
It is not this users fault, its the nature of the gold rush of trying to build so many touchpoints and maximise automation. How many emails from the CEO/Founder did not come from another mass mail transactional tool that triggers x time after sign up?
At least when I phone people, they know its a human (for now) and we get to interact like that.
Meanwhile, I have updated my signature to include.
"This email was sent manually by a person, not by any automated tools or robots."
