AWS saving money tips and tricks thread

there is a lot of info about the subject on the net i know, but really want to bookmark collection of tips and tricks from bootstrappers on saving money when deploying to AWS,
i will start.:
in my day job we are using Spotinst service which have algorithms to
make automatic trades on the AWS spots market. we were able to reduce allot in ec2 costs.
