Babelshelf: a chrome extension to save books you want to read

I've finally published a small extension onto the chrome webstore! Babelshelf (www.babelshelf.com) is an extension for those who love to read. It saves books you want to read, as well as the link you've saved them from, so you can create a smarter and more personalized "to-read" list. Would love some feedback!

I just installed the extension but there are no directions on how to add books to your shelf.

I agree with the other comments

    1. more information is needed on the homepage about how it works
    2. when you are logged in, provide some guidance on how to get started adding books. Adding a short video would be a great way of doing this.

Good luck with the app :)

Thanks for the feedback Marilyn! Added some videos upon new user login and a short animation to the front page.

Thankyou, I've just tried again and watched the video. I think the flow can be made even clearer to spell it out to the user in simple terms what they need to do.

How I would change: Take the user though the steps on the homepage eg

        Use in three easy steps:

        1. install the extension from chrome store (include link to store). Only the button to open the chrome store in this section.
        2. Add book when you are on any website - the Gif on the chrome store is actually great, I would add it directly to step 2 here. The problem with the current Gif on the homepage is that it isn't clear if you're clicking on text/an image whereas the video and chrome store Gif show this very clearly
        3. come back to the website and login to view all your books (include the login button here) i thought maybe you could view the list by clicking the extension itself, like a dropdown I didn't realise I needed to go back to the website to view the books

        Hope this is helpful!

Hey @kycreator, I like the concept!

I currently use Trello to track books I'd like to use, but it's not the optimal solution.

On your landing page I'd suggest having some pictures which show how your product works and what it looks like when I've added a few books.

The landing page is pretty bare. I'm hesitant to add an extension or sign-up for a service when I'm not sure what I'll get in return! :)

    I hope this helps! :)

      Thanks @PDffy!

Totally agree. Think I underestimated peoples' hesitance to install an extension (even if it's free). Will spend some time looking at landing page examples today and working something up quickly. Appreciate the feedback.
