Be Invested in People

I've been running the dailydevlinks community for a few weeks and wanted to share my thoughts on growing a community so far, as someone brand new to doing this sort of thing.

I try to post to the community almost daily with goals for the week, tools I find, interesting articles I read etc.

💎 Sometimes it can feel like you're talking into a void, but there are definitely people that are finding what you're posting valuable.

💬 With a community that's only at 20 members, most of the time at least one person interacts and has a conversation with me. This feels so wholesome to me that people take the time to do this, and I'm very grateful for this.

🗣 Keep at it, try to spark conversations. Be interested in what other people are doing or the goals they've set themselves.

🎯 Follow up with members, see if they reached their goals. You can do this in the DMs or publicly. Anything to make your community feel valued themselves.

🎮 Go off-topic sometimes. I like to do this by talking about video games I'm currently playing. This can make it easier to connect with other members.

My take away so far is to be invested in the people that join your community and take the time to be grateful and give thoughtful responses. Exactly like how you would be with your friends, it just makes the whole thing so much more fun 🙌

I'd love to learn from everyone else what they like to do with their communities when growing 😊

daily rituals. small updates. posting links to valuable stuff.

... it's simple, but, it can be a start.
