Best Heroku Alternatives for 2022

Render.com. Awesome for distributed Elixir, but also great for docker and has free static sites as well.

Heroku is expensive. One way Python/Django developers can save a lot of pain and money is to use http://appliku.com :)

I use it for one of my projects for free. Can you elaborate, what is expensive? 8$/month

This is very interesting, I am in the process to add one API service to the Heruko marketplace, do you have something similar to the marketplace to extend Appliku with other services/APIs?

Hey, I haven't had any requests about that so far. But I am actually thinking about some stuff that I would rather add as such plugin rather than baking into the main app.

Will be happy to chat about it, I am curious how it is done on Heroku side.

Would you just into our discord and we can talk about it?

Thank you! I will join the channel, I just finished the Heroku integration, I just did a video for a deploy, you can see how this is done in Heroku

I think that it is really cool how Heroku let the user integrate functionality with a few click, if you plan to add plugins or addons to your platform I am happy to help.
Right now my examples are for nodejs, but I will work on python examples too.

I built Hatchbox.io for Ruby on Rails app deployments. It's significantly cheaper and you have full access to the servers so you can easily add any dependencies.

When I realized the need to build Appliku for Python/Django niche, I was looking at Hatchbox.io by @excid3.

Great job, Chris! Totally recommend it for Rubists!

Render.com and Railway.app are two of my favourite.

And we are working on a lambda functions only deployment platform with TinyFunction.com . We are planning to release first major release this week, please let me know if you are interested to be beta user.

Dokku deployed on a DigitalOcean box is absolutely wonderful if you like the overall Heroku deployment flow. I've been super happy with it!

Why not go with digital ocean or linode?

Don't forget Piku which you can self host.

Didn't mention Amazon's new fully managed container service App Runner: https://aws.amazon.com/apprunner/getting-started/

Combining with CDK to add additional services seems like a good combination of customization and rapid development. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cdk/api/latest/docs/aws-apprunner-readme.html#github

    Hi Romaric
I am adding an API service to the Heruko marketplace, do you have something similar to the Heruko marketplace to extend Qovery with other services/APIs?

I use Netlify.com for my landing pages. I think it should be added to the list as their free plan is very generous letting you add custom domains for free. https://netlify.com

I'm using Digital Ocean App platform and it's been great so far. Also pretty cheap compared to Heroku.
