Best tools for email in landing pages

I've been looking into email services for a landing page I'm building for Introspekt.

What I've looked at

MailChimp seems fine since their website offers up to 2,000 subscribers in the free tier. I figure that if I have 2,000+ people interested in Introspekt then paying more will be fine.

I've also looked into Amazon SES which is quite nice. Really cheap but requires quite a bit of effort.

I've already written the code for the landing page and wouldn't mind spending some time on AWS since it seems interesting and definitely useful.

What I want

I'm quite hesitant to make that time commitment now since the semester starts in a week. If you've used Amazon SES, how much effort did it take? I've used Azure before, so I am familiar with cloud.

What do you use for capturing emails on your landing pages? I'm looking for something in code and cost-effective. Code, mostly because it's more cost-effective and I enjoy writing code (ah, that great feeling of something working after spending 30 minutes hating yourself 😉).

If you're just starting out, you're fine going with Mailchimp. In the beginning there's very few benefits with sending out with Amazon SES (which would offer greater flexibility/control and lower costs).

Using SES to start is going to incur additional time costs that likely won't be worth it.

Hmm, you're right, I don't think I can afford the time commitment now, as @SnapperFish mentioned I can always switch to Amazon SES later. Besides 2,000 contacts is quite large and I can't be sure that I would breach that in the first place.

I'm using MailChimp, just because it was the easiest to get started with. I figure if it starts getting to expensive then I can reaccess and migrate the list elsewhere
