Build-in public - RoastorToast followup

Hey Everyone,

I'm making a conscious effort to try to be more active in the "build in public" community so hopefully, this is the place to do so.

I posted yesterday about a new free service we are launching called roastortoast.io (HERE is the link). People gave great feedback and I wanted to address a few items.

1.) This landing page looks like crap: 100% agree. Right now, I get a 💩 score. I know this, you know this, we all know this. I'm using a new tool and with that comes some uphill battles.

2.) Why does it look like crap? Because I built it overnight using Bubble. I'm a dev myself so utilizing a NoCode solution was honestly kind of hard. But this was a conscious effort because I realize that a large number of startups will be, or are currently, using a NoCode/LowCode solution. I didn't think it would be fair to give feedback regarding these solutions without having any experience with them.

3.) When will we be launching? Within the next 2 weeks. I built the full application with Bubble as well and as fun as it was to use something new, it's also lacking in the UI department. I'd say it's about 90% there...as we all know that means I've only got 90% left.

4.) How do we know that these Roasters are actually legit? Amazing question. We've got a few ways we are going to verify. These are in no particular order but we may list the Roaster's name/image on our site, tweet who some Roasters are & their username after they've performed a few roasts, and we're open to other fun ideas.

I think that's it for now. Good luck out there!

For the future may be worth using a different landing page tool even if using Bubble.

But more important is what it will do post launch.

Agreed, it's most important about delivering on our promises after launch. I'm still getting familiar with what Bubble has to offer and will continue to learn more about it in the coming weeks. However, in the back of my mind, I've already started laying out the plan for a custom solution built in-house.

Good for you stepping out of your comfort zone. ✅
