Google Sheets is among the most popular data storage solutions and for good reason – forever free and unlimited storage, cloud-based, and a short learning curve. It is where most internal tools begin.
However, challenges start to surface when it comes to user based to access controls, business rules and validation.
In the example, we have a Google Sheet with sales leads, their contact details, some notes, and the names of sales rep the lead is assigned to.
In order to allow sales rep to only see leads assigned to them, and update lead information - such as notes, next steps, update contact details, and so on - we create an admin panel that lists the leads from the sheet onto the app and based on the user that is logged in, it filters the leads displayed.
