Building a Tool For An Emerging Platform - Use Case (Cameo)

Hi Everyone,

Just sharing my two cents on building a tool for an emerging platform that can experience significant growth in the future. In this scenario, I decided to look at Cameo.com which is a platform that allows users to request personalize messages from celebrities. Cameo.com was established in March 2017 and in 2020, Cameo.com saw huge growths such as bookings which grew by 350% and 2 million mobile app downloads which represented a growth of 450% during the pandemic.

With this information, I saw an opportunity to a build tool to create a nexus between Cameo.com and two other massive platforms (Netflix and Spotify). Since Cameo.com serves as a directory of on demand celebrities, and Netflix and Spotify as a mass potential audience, users of these platforms can then become aware of when celebrities are on Cameo.com, while watching Netflix or listening to Spotify. Thus, our chrome extension called Aleerty was born with the intention of fulfilling the above function.

Aleerty is a simple chrome extension that alert users when celebrities are found on Cameo.com while viewing/listening to a specific Netflix show or Spotify artist/playlist. It then provides a list of celebrities and their respective Cameo account. On the other note, I see Aleerty as a growth tool for Cameo to drive organic traffic to their platform once Aleerty's user base grows.
