Building my distraction-free todo app — project 1, week 1 | 12 projects in 12 months

Hello all! I'm currently on a journey to complete 12 projects in 12 months after coming to terms with not being able to finish my projects. The aim of this project is to build a distract-free task and note-taking app, designed to keep you in flow.

What I did this week

What went well

  • I've designed enough of the UI to start the build.
  • For the first time, I managed to stop at the level of scope that I'd set. (take that scope creep!)

What didn't go well

  • I finished the first design concept in a couple of days and hated it. At that point, the motivation left me and I hit a block. I took half a day out and worked on something different. I managed to come back and nail the second concept (although it's not perfect).

What I plan to do next week

  • Build out the static version of the day view as per the designs provided
  • Focus on nailing down the interaction, getting those silky smooth transitions would be great!

Thanks for reading and stay safe
Keep moving forward.
