Can an app help to tackle one of the biggest crisis in our history? An attempt. Will you join?

Hey Indie Hackers,

My first post in this community, so I try to make it count. I strongly believe that technology has the power to be a force for good. So why not use it for tackling one of our biggest global problems?

Problem:
1.) Biodiversity loss (In a nutshell):

  • Biodiversity = every living thing, including plants, bacteria, animals, and humans
  • Biodiversity decreased by 68% in 50 years
  • Problematic because half of the worlds GDP depend on it, important for medicine, agriculture, culture, decrease chances of pandemics, relaxation

Problem with this problem, many people are not aware, no media coverage and inaction, therefore I reflected on my observation which problem people in my surrounding and I myself face.

2.) More development doesn't necessarily lead to more happiness:

  • Negative feelings have been rising 27 percent worldwide from 2010 to 2018.
  • “We are in an era of rising tensions and negative emotions,” says economist Jeffrey D. Sachs
  • As soon as people want to change their mindset they are confronted with unrealistic forms of self development
  • We get overwhelmed and don't start to grow

Solution:
A Wild Life. A nature inspired self care app that lets you & nature grow. Thanks to nature inspired weekly content the user will have a steady & healthy grow curve. At the same time 1/3 of the created turnover of the app will go NGOs & grassroots organisations, which preserve and restore wildlife. Thereby, helping you and nature to grow.

Goal:
For this year is to realise this idea.

Next Steps:

  • find like minded people that want to create this app with me
  • I have a business background, so I especially look for people that can lead the technical realisation

Maybe you want to join the adventure?

P.S. If you want to know more feel free to check my contribution to the UN restoration challenge. Details, future plans, screenshots etc. Link: https://uplink.weforum.org/uplink/s/uplink-contribution/a012o00001pTSV8AAO/a-wild-life

Hi Oliver, sent you an email. Very cool idea. I had some similar inklings but I don't have the UX and graphics skills.

I loved the idea and the motivation. I have a tech background in ML, but am very passionate about the cause. Do you want to speak sometime more about the idea and what you are looking to build?

Hi Oliver, nice idea! I like how it compensates nature for its contributions. Have you considered using a no-code tool to build the initial version yourself (e.g. Glide, Appsheet, etc.)? Could be a good option if you can't find anyone else. Good luck!

Hi Logan, thank you for the kind words. Yes I actually checked a few companies. So far I think I would go with https://buildfire.com But I am still confident that I can find someone that wants to tackle these issues as well. Lets see :)
