Can I help you find a Twitter audience?

Hey Indie Hackers. I realize this is a tall order, but I want to do a little experiment with audience or community building. So I’m running a 7-day challenge to help people make a habit of growing a personal community, starting with Twitter.

Basically, I will

  1. Give you a daily goal.
  2. Give you people to follow that I think you’d like.
  3. Give you conversations to engage in.
  4. Give you ideas about what to post.
  5. Remind you if you forget or miss a goal.
  6. Track your progress everyday.

The only thing I'll ask is you commit a tiny bit of time everyday for 7 days.

I actually thought of this challenge for myself, and am on Day 1. I’d be doing all of the above myself, so for now would love to have only 3 to 5 people at most.

A little context: I’ve been very into the creator space lately (I’m a lifelong creator as well, first a musician/composer then a programmer) and find growing a community to be incredibly frustrating, especially when starting out! Most people I know would rather just spend all their time creating, and not have to deal with any of this, even though we all know the importance of having an audience.

If this sounds like you, maybe I can help get you started with a habit. I have a Slack workspace set up to do this. Let me know if you'd be up for it. :)

Hey all, it's cool to see that there's interest in this. :) I should have just shared the form in the original post: https://forms.gle/d4kZerGcNc3JMogC6

I'm going to start with the first three people to confirm by joining the Slack, unless you've told me you prefer email. This is for me to make sure the workload is manageable and I don't go crazy lol. Then in a day or so, I'll sign on another one or two people. Should be a fun exercise!

Sounds like an exciting idea. I am curious to find out what comes out of it.

Me too, been wanting to try the whole "building in public" thing for a while. I'll come back here and report any interesting findings.

Thanks! I'm hoping it can become a cool actual project down the road. We can try it over email if you like? https://forms.gle/s9uVte9LoyiQRweB6

Hi @joshuatopia, similar here, I'm interested to join but can't do Slack for 'being sick of it' reasons. Would that work in other way?

        1. 1

Haha, understood. I'm doing one by email just to try it out, but I think more than one will be too much to manage for me. Fill out the form if you like and include your email and I'll let you know if I decide to do a second round.

I'd love to try this out, that seem to be the hardest part for me, sticking to a routine and finding post to engage in.

Here you go, I just need a little info from you then feel free to join the workspace: https://forms.gle/s9uVte9LoyiQRweB6

    2. 1

Yeah, same here! I'll send an invite after I get out of work. :)

  7. 1

How much time would you estimate one needs to reach the daily goals?

    1. 1

I'd say anywhere from 5-15 minutes depending on the difficulty. I'd look at how someone does everyday and adjust if needed.

        Great! Count me in 😄
