Closed my VC SaaS to go solo

Hi guys,

First post here, so I hope you'll forgive any lapses in decorum. For the past 5 years I've been running a VC funded SaaS. It started out with as much passion and power as you can imagine, but over time I ended up spending too much time on activities unrelated to our core vision. I closed that business down in January and have been working on my new passion since: Freelancing.

There's a pretty big freelancing community here and it was clear to me that less than half were truly thriving as freelancers. They were overworked and underpaid and after having spoken with many freelancers the root causes became clear to me:

  1. They don't get paid for every hour they put in
  2. When they complete a job, their pipe is empty and they have to "start over"
  3. They aren't getting good input on all the little stuff that can trip you up, details in contracts, terms etc.

So I've created ZimTik.com to hopefully enable everyone to enjoy freelancing as much as I always have. When I was younger, I just wanted to maximize my earnings and I worked tirelessly to do that. Now I've got a fixed cap on how many hours I want to put in and how much money I need to make off that.

Whatever your ambition is, I hope you'll find a good support structure in ZimTik. Here's how you can use it:

  1. Whenever you hear about a potential job, create it in the Pipeline
  2. Follow up routinely until something closes
  3. Click "Won" to convert the sales opportunity to an Active Task
  4. Get to work, we'll help you track progress and hours put in
  5. Single click Invoicing system that helps you track payments and due dates

When you've been doing that for a year, you'll hopefully have made a lot of happy customers and money. Export your invoices and expenses to your accountant and he'll fix your yearly reporting quickly.

My output from using this system (even before it was called ZimTik) is that I spent next to no time on Admin stuff, as little on Sales as I have to and 95% of my time doing what I love. I hope it can do the same for others.

If you have the time to take a look at ZimTik.com or our new YT channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCe78kZCZnV6lMW4DW0IjBfg - I'd love to hear what you think.
