Hello fellow creators,
I am creating an Android course targeting extreme beginners.
In a week I want to publish it on Udemy.
In the mean time I want to create an ebook report on different entry level Android courses, including mine, and want to compare everything (syllabus, pace, ease of learning, production quality, price etc.) related to these courses.
I want to sell / give away this report on gumroad / social media because:
Do you think what I am trying to do makes sense and is worth the effort?
Should I sell the report or give it away for free?
Do you have any other comments on this strategy?
Thanks!
Sharing a report which includes your own course is (most likely) biased and people can easily see through it: you're trying to get their emails and their money for your course. As such, this report might backfire.
Instead, try to help people for free first. Post videos and tips on your social media that offer value for people who want to get started with Android. In this way, you'll build a reputation for "Safa knows Android" and you'll get their permission to eventually share what you've been working on.
Discounts are not as viral as you think. Udemy discounts everything so there's nothing magical there, plus there's a million courses going for $10, you won't stand out so easily.
Thanks a lot for your realistic feedback!
You are right, no matter how honest I try to review courses it will be biased.
But still I was thinking that people will appreciate the effort I put into extracting pros and cons of dozens of courses online.
I never thought it may ever backfire.
