Competition

How do you look at competition? I have a generally novel idea.. not a bunch of competitors, I stepped into building an app and a business with no background on how to do so... I am seeing some competitors enter the space and now I feel as though I may be under threat... I think much of the fear I feel is based on my own feeling of self-consciousness like I don't belong - impostor syndrome. But, I personally think competition is good because it means I can ride along with press that covers others... or should be concerned.. is it winner take all? Should I be worried I didn't strike gold as the first mover?

  1. 1

What you can try is a change of perspective. You may be biased if you think it is 'winner take all', a lot of people are. They think it is a zero-sum game but it isn't. So, first of all, relax.

Now, you can definitely have a first-mover advantage but don't overweigh it. Just start executing and focus on improving your work. To deal with competition, here's a Twitter thread where people shared how they deal with it.
