Critique my freelance designer landing page

dezhimself.com

I'm an illustrator art director creating 2d/3d Content and illustrations. Truth is I'm pretty good at branding and vector design as well and I have trouble condensing these aspect of my service into a landing page/clear offering.

The page I have up has been in use for about a year. I'm working on it to better describe my offering and who it's for and, of course, gain more clients.

As such I'd like a critique from you guys, especially ones who hire designers such as myself.

Thanks

    This is what I felt:

    • I don't know where I am, what I'm seeing. I would add a few words to introduce myself and tell what those pictures are about
    • Images take a lot of time to load (including on each project page, it took me 2 visits to see there was more to them than a simple paragraph at the top because the images were not loading): try to optimize them or use a service that does it for you
    • I'd be curious to know more about your work process. After reading your projects pages, I would expect to have some idea of what it means to work with you (timeline, what the customer did, what you did, etc.)
    • I would expect to drop more than my contact details in your form: why don't you add a text area so that a customer can pitch you their need?
    • quotes/recommendations from your customer would be a huge plus

      That's for the detailed reply.

I'm in the process of adding these changes as Wells as other suggestions from the comments.

As a side note, I don't find it coincidental that the aspects of self description and social proof that are absent on the site are actually things I wrestle with personally.

As above, so below, as they say.

Thanks @Primer. That seems to be the consensus so far. So I'll do it to at least test it

        Also to note:

        • the links to another website with some posts is very confusing.
        • get https as non secure traffic now get ranked down by search engine(s)

That website is my blog where I discuss branding. Haven't been sure how to integrate it as yet.

Now that you mentioned it, I should change the tab title to blog instead , as well as finding a way to integrate the blog

Thanks for the input @jeandelarue2002 🙏

Yes Web design, or the implementation isn't your skill (yet)

See how to adapt a template instead, it's usually easier to make a layout your own than starting from scratch. You don't really need css/js knowledge to make something far more appealing.

Thanks for the input @nikersify. Now that you mentioned it, it would seem more sensible to place my portfolio on the main page as well, instead of in it's own tab? I initially did it this way to give client an overview of what I do.
