💰🎉 Crossed $100,000 ARR milestone!

Yeah! We did it. We crossed the $100,000 ARR milestone with Upvoty.com.

This is a big deal and another step in the validation of the product.

If you want to learn more behind the journey, follow me at:

I share almost on a daily basis all the things we learn in building our SaaS startup Upvoty.

A couple of takeaways:

  • Focus on a small target audience: The smaller, the better you can do marketing and sales and reach your target audience.

  • Start small: When we launched 1,5 years ago, the product was far from what it is right now. We built features based on real user feedback on the go (of course, using Upvoty.com, duh! ;).

  • Content marketing: Make sure to write as much as possible to cover all of your target audience's problems and needs. Building an online video editor? Write an article on how to add subtitles. Building a scraping tool? Write how-to articles. On the Upvoty blog (upvoty.com/blog) you'll find tons of articles focused on helping SaaS and product teams collecting and managing feedback.

    Hey Mike,

That's really impressive! Congratulations on the growth.

Hope you don't mind me asking a few questions. Since we're targeting a similar audience (SaaS) I'd love to hear your thoughts.

    1. Do you target small or larger SaaS companies? We notice that a lot of the small ones are too price conscious.

    2. I see you get a TON of traffic to your site, 50-60k is a lot. What is the #1 traffic source? Apparently I'm doing something wrong :D with the organic traffic since we have 50+ posts but barely get 5k visits a month.

    3. On the other hand I see you're not getting that many trials? Wondering why is that? And what do you do to still convert that many customers on a monthly basis?

Looks cool. I might use it for my next project.

Since you mentioned content marketing: Do you think it's a good idea to mix product updates and posts about your target audiences problems and needs in the very same blog?

Just asking because I'm starting out so my Saas is not launched yet, but I did start writing content for my target audience about their problems (and I'm also building an e-mail list).

How did you do it in the early days? Did you build an e-mail list first and then let those people know when you finally had a product? Or did you write about your product even though it wasn't released yet?

Thank you and congrats on reaching this milestone :)

I think writing about product updates and your product's journey is great for existing customers and for example Indie Hackers who love to read and share those kinds of articles. Content marketing to gain new customers, however, will come down more to SEO. Really write actionable posts that solve the problems of your customers.

I can recommend listening to Pierre de Wulf from ScrapingBee on how he has success with content marketing: https://open.spotify.com/episode/4aCy2ha1bXfVasBVYcqUeq?si=FBvIh2jtSCqvOcb-hiFSTg
