Deep Dive: Rachit Khator of Stackby

Rachit was working in the venture capital department of a Fortune 500 company when he was offered a promotion and a higher salary on top of already making in the six figures.

One day later, he walked out to start his new business.

I always wanted to have a tech startup. But the fact was that my corporate job responsibilities were growing, and I was even offered a higher salary and promotion the day before I quit.

That triggered me to take the leap. I thought if not now, then never.

He sold almost everything he owned and moved to India, putting everything he had into making the business work.

So began Stackby, a next-gen spreadsheet, database, API combination tool.

Rachit knew how to make a good app. But it was going to take a lot to build a successful business.

The first challenge was to assemble a solid product team in a Tier-II city in India where there was no tech ecosystem. Our city, Surat, is known for its diamonds and textile industry; there was no real product tech startup that came out of the city in its otherwise rich history.

He spent two years with his head down, grinding. He'd given up a six-figure job, depleted his savings, and moved across the world. He had to make this work.

Failure is big in India, it's not at all like in the US where failure means experience. In India, it's not looked at as positively. So failure would have been awful.

Then came launch day... in January 2020. Nobody knew it then, but that was a very risky time to launch a business. COVID-19 hit the world shortly after, and hit India especially hard.

But hidden in that frightening moment was a breakthrough for Rachit.

We're a remote work software, so COVID just helped accelerate adoption amongst all sorts of businesses, now willing to digitize their data and processes.

Find out how Rachit managed to gain over 3,000 customers in 150+ countries, and make $50,000+ MRR in the ten months since then.
