Defining the fair shares (of a company)

Hi everybody.

A friend, professor at the university, developed a (physical) product that perfectly fits a niche and has a potential for success. The product is innovative and early (prototype) feedbacks from professional users are very positive.

He doesn't know anything about branding, sales or marketing.

He wants us to be part of the new company and take responsibility for everything other than product development for one year. That means EVERYTHING (branding, communication, sales, marketing, support) globally. Then we re-evaluate results and decide on the next steps.

How to slice the pie of the new company. What shares do one get for idea and the product and the other side for everything else that has to happen to succeed.
