Did Anyone Learn To Code In Public and Document Their Journey On Twitter?

Hi, Devs(or anyone really),

I just started to learn to code and have been documenting my journey here on IH.

I'm moving on to Javascript now and considering also documenting it on Twitter.

Trouble is, never been on Twitter (sm terrifies me. For real) and have no idea how to dive in.

Is there anybody out there who did something similar -document their coding journey on Twitter- or anyone who can offer advice?

All pointers and advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks, y'all.

I heard on the "HTML All things podcast" that @codingyuri on Twitter learnt publicly.

She created trivia questions that got people interested in what she was doing. The more people engaged the better the responses were.

    Here is her Twitter profile.

Am sure that if you DM her she might be willing to give you advice on how to aproach it.

Tech Twitter has some pretty friendly people. I am going to try the same thing myself. Good luck.

      Ooh, thank you!

I'll be sure to check her out.

Is there a way we can collaborate on this and be each other's accountability partner or something?

      I'd really appreciate it.

It would be nice to get together to see how we can help each other out.

I have been ruminating on building in public for a while now and maybe having an accountability partner might help.

Just read codingyuri's post on Hashnode. Both motivating and inspiring. Thanks for pointing me to her.

Sure, will do. Have to set up an account first. I'm sure it's pretty simple but I'm struggling with it mehn.

Meanwhile, I've begun the "context gathering' stage of my JS learning. Basically getting a lay of the land by following some beginner crash courses.

Can you drop me an email? Tried to email you but no contact on your profile.

Maybe we can get on zoom sometime this weekend?

I'd really appreciate a buddy on this journey.

          Looking forward to it!

          Cheers.

Hey @Luchi. It's cool that you've been coding in public.

You can have a look at https://twitter.com/Insharamin who documents on Twitter. She actually started her Twitter journey from scratch, started with 100 days of code and built a great following. She might be able to help you out :)

I've been a fan of the build in public movement since it builds credibility and lets the amazing community interact with your work

Currently working on making it fun to build in public and create an audience. If you like, you can have a look at https://www.producthunt.com/upcoming/astramind-for-makers

Also, when people say "tech Twitter", what exactly do they mean? Is there a different twitter for techies?

I'm so sure this is the dumbest question you ever heard but I am utterly dumb about a lot of things, so...

Hey it's a great question. I was quite perplexed with the term too. Tech twitter is basically the community of developers & those putting content related to tech on Twitter.

Topics range from specific tech stacks, all the way up to system design & more

Hi @goutham, just checked out your product.

Looks pretty interesting. Would you let me know when it's ready?

Also thank you for the tip and pointing me to Insha.

I just checked her out along with a couple of other people doing the #100Days challenge.

Is it really as simple as creating an account and posting your daily learning or am I missing something?

I've never used twitter before and starting is a bit nerve wrecking and feels overwhelming.

Thanks for taking your time to check the product, Luchi. Would love to let you know for the early access which will be out soon

Yeah you can get started by just creating an account, tweet out your daily learning with preferable hash tag like #100daysofcode & follow those in your interests. It'll be an amazing journey for you, for sure :)

Thanks. I'll be sure to check out both her and your product.

I've been documenting here though, should I start a whole new 100 days of code challenge on there? What do you think?

You can try experimenting there & see how it goes. That way you'd get to know if it vibes with you :)
