I love what my competitors are doing. But it makes my day when I read such a review about Draftss:
Comparison to a better experience than a competitor who has been in the market long before we existed. It made me happy that we are definitely doing good work.
But it also made me wonder, how many of you actually went ahead to try out your competitor's products/services?
How was your experience and did you learn anything significant from it?
Of course, I tried many of them.
I wanted to see what feels right, and what are the weak points which were my opportunity to do better.
But this is something that I just did at the beginning.
Eventually my product got its own life and evolved from user feedback.

In my opinion, it's a great thought to keep reviewing your competitors from time to time. It helps you to avoid re-inventing the wheel and focus on things that customers want in your product/services. Invest time in learning about what is already executed by your competitor and understand whether it's really working out or not. Then using that data come up with a better proposition than what your competitor is currently providing. This is definitely subjective to the domain you are catering to. As you rightly pointed out, one would want to try every burger around to find out which burgers are selling the most and why, so that you can come up with a better proposition.
