Discord vs Slack or other option. Where do you build your community?

Hello beautiful people, I have built a discord server for my community (a community for ethical hackers) for the time there are only 30 registered members you can check it with this link discord.gg/wnzvH2q

After a small research, I came to the conclusion that discord isn't very professional also is the issue of privacy (Since 2015 when Discord was founded, a few stories have emerged about privacy that users should be aware of). Do you think I should change to something different like slack or something more private and maybe open source?

Do you have any recommendations?

Have you also tried Circle.so / Mighty Networks / Tribe Community?

Alternatively, you can find more solutions on Virtual Mojito

Discord's privacy and safety policies are much better than Slack's. Both have had serious issues in the past, but Discord has and continues to address them. Slack, however, ignores critical features that their users are begging for, like a block button and any sort of abuse reporting infrastructure.

I had a recent call with the lead of their trust and safety team, their incentives and policies are aligned with what a community needs.

Slack is a work tool, but it's designed for teams not communities.

I'm a part of several professional groups now on Discord, and the experience is much better than Slack ever was.

mhmm. slack is irresponsible for community, long-term especially. i have thoughts: https://www.indiehackers.com/product/yen/simple-pricing-shouldnt-be-this-hard--MB_cBzSkixoVxTqew5H

For Mockoon I use https://spectrum.chat/mockoon which has been bought by GitHub. There is no invite required so it's very easy to use. But my "community" is composed of developers mainly, so I guess you have to use what suits best. I would say, without spectrum I would have probably choose Gitter or Discord.

Slack is a clusterfuck of bad decision making in the way they make you join groups. Why do I need to effectively sign up every time I want to join a group? Discord has your server list on the side for easy access.
Discord is just better for everything imo

I use Circle to build my community Local SEO Community

I chose it over Slack, Discord, or FB groups because I wanted everything in the community indexed for SEO, so people can find it via Google search.
